Syria, Tunisia discuss consolidating diplomatic representation

During a phone call on Wednesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad, exchanged greetings with Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Ammar on the holy month of Ramadan. The two sides also exchanged view points on the importance of enhancing and developing bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields.

Minister Ammar conveyed the Tunisian leadership’s decision to strengthen the representation of the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia in Damascus, and to appoint an ambassador there.

For his part, Al-Mikdad expressed Syria’s appreciation for the decision of President Qais Sae’ed to raise the diplomatic representation at the Tunisian Embassy in Damascus to the level of an ambassador, within the framework of affirming the mutual amity between the leaderships and peoples of the two brotherly countries.

Al-Mikdad made it clear that Syria will reopen its embassy in Tunisia during the next few days so that the diplomatic representation will be at the level of ambassadors.

The two ministers also discussed the importance of enhancing relations between the two brotherly countries in the diplomatic, political, economic and cultural fields, and the importance of continuous consultations in all issues related to the Arab, regional and international situations.
