Syria takes part in the 35th conference of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information in Muscat

With the participation of Syria, the 35th conference of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information opened yesterday in the Omani capital, Muscat, under the title “Arab Libraries and Archives Institutions and Their Role in Promoting Digital Identity and Citizenship”, at the Grand Millennium Muscat Hotel .
The three-day conference, which is organized by the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information in cooperation with the Omani Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Sultan Qaboos University, included 54 scientific papers, workshops and dialogue sessions.
The event aims to shed light on the importance of libraries and archives institutions in supporting society, developing national identity and digital citizenship, and enhancing cooperation between Arab countries in this field.
Fadi Ghanem , the Director of Al-Assad Library affirmed in a statement to “SANA” that “Syria’s participation with two research papers in the conference after a long hiatus is a valuable opportunity to present Al-Assad Library’s experience in preserving documentary cultural heritage and strengthening digital identity and citizenship.”
Rania Haddad , Director of Bibliographic Media and Publishing at the Assad Library indicated  that “her participation was through a research paper that aims to present the Assad Library’s pioneering experience in preserving, maintaining, restoring and digitizing documentary heritage, including manuscripts, in line with preserving cultural identity.”
Dr. Nabhan Al-Harasi, President of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information expressed his happiness with the Syrian participation in the conference.
