Syria strongly condemns Israel’s intention to build new settlements in occupied Palestinian territories
The Syrian Arab Republic has strongly condemned Israel’s declaration that it intends to build new settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said: “The Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the Israeli occupation’s announcement of its intention to build new settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, including resolution 2334 of 2016, which calls for the cessation of all Israeli settlement activities.
“The Israeli systematic and continuous building and expanding of settlements, as well as its acts of confiscating the Palestinians’ lands, demolishing their homes and displacing them is a war crime added to Israel’s other heinous crimes, for which it must be held accountable.” The Foreign Ministry added.
Syria calls on the international community to act immediately to halt such grave crimes, which exacerbate threats and instability in the region and undermine any possibility of establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian State, the Foreign Ministry affirmed.
