Syria strongly condemns the crime of targeting the graduation ceremony of military Academy cadets

Syria on Thursday condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist organizations’ heinous crime of targeting the graduation ceremony of the cadets of the Military Academy in Homs with drones and called on the United Nations and the Security Council to condemn this cowardly terrorist act and hold the states sponsoring terrorism accountable for their crimes against the Syrian people.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said: “In continuation of the brutal terrorist attacks committed by the terrorist organizations, supported by the American occupation and other international parties that are partner with the terrorists in shedding the blood of Syrians and destabilizing the security and stability of the Syrian Arab Republic, terrorist organizations this afternoon, Thursday, October 5, 2023, targeted the graduation ceremony of the cadets of the Military Academy in the Syrian city of Homs, using drones carrying explosive ammunition. The attack claimed the lives of a number of civilians and military personnel and injured dozens others, many of them suffer seroius injuries, including women and children of the families, who attended the graduation ceremony, as werl as many cadets.

“This heinous crime once again indicates that the perpetrators insist on continuing their brutal and bloody terrorist approach form which the Syrian people have suffered over the past years, and and affirms the terrorist organizations’ determination to serve the goals of their operators and sponsors by continuing their terrorist war on Syria, prolonging this war, trying to terrorize the Syrian people, prolonging the illegal presence of American, Israeli and Turkish forces in order to achieve the despicable interests of these parties at the expense of the blood of innocent Syrians,” the ministry said.
