Syria strongly condemned the imposition of a new package of sanctions and restrictions by Western powers on the friendly Republic of Belarus, stressing its full solidarity with Belarus in confronting external pressure.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement today: “The Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the recent imposition of a new package of sanctions and restrictions by Western powers on the friendly Republic of Belarus, and condemns the hostile statements of Western officials and their attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus.”
The Ministry added: “These measures, which Western powers are accustomed to impose on all who do not surrender to them, and who exercise independent national decision, not only violate the United Nations Charter, international law and the principles of sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of states, but also undermine the stability and development of these countries, including Belarus.”
The ministry concluded: “Syria, which suffers from the inhuman effects of such measures, stands with Belarus, and declares its full solidarity with it, affirming its desire to strengthen strong and historical relations with this country in all fields, in a way that enhances the ability of the two friendly countries to confront external pressures, and contributes to the stability and prosperity of the region.”
