Syria, Russia to enhance cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research

Damascus, (ST) – Dr. Bassam Hassan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, discussed during his meeting today with the Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus, Ruben Gazanchan, and the accompanying delegation, cooperation relations in the field of higher education and scientific research between the two countries.

The two sides also discussed many topics related to Russian scholarships provided to Syria, student and professor exchange, training and qualification, especially focusing on precise specializations.

Minister Hassan stressed the importance of meetings with the Russian side, especially in the field of higher education and scientific research, and the need to exchange views, hold scientific seminars and conferences, and training and qualification courses to build capacities and publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Minister Hassan stressed the important role of the Russian Cultural Center in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Syrian universities. He called for more agreements that contribute to the development of the educational process and scientific research.

In turn, Ghazanchan clarified that the Russian Cultural Center is one of the main centers that graduated many scientific cadres, and it works on the basis of partnership with government institutions.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is a real partner for cooperation in various scientific and research projects to achieve the best possible for students. He stressed the center’s readiness to develop cooperation with the ministry in all fields related to education.
