Syria, Iraq to encourage joint investment

Baghdad, (ST) – Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed the importance of strengthening and developing fraternal relations between Iraq and Syria. He also stressed the importance of encouraging investment opportunities and establishing joint projects in various fields in the interest of the two brotherly countries.

This came during President Rashid’s meeting on Wednesday with Syria’s Minister of Tourism Muhammad Rami Martini and the accompanying delegation, according to a statement by the Iraqi President’s Media Office.

During the meeting, President Rashid pointed to the strength of relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, and the common historical and cultural factors that contributed to enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences, especially in the field of tourism, antiquities and culture.

The Iraqi President said: “Our culture and destiny are common. We have suffered from common challenges, especially in the face of terrorism and violence, and Iraq was able to surpass that stage, as there is security stability in Iraqi cities and provinces.

For his part, Minister Martini conveyed the greetings of President Bashar Al-Assad to President Rashid, who in turn asked the minister to convey his greetings and appreciation to President Al-Assad and his best wishes to the Syrian people for security, stability and prosperity.

Martini pointed to the depth of the relations between the two countries and the importance of strengthening these relations in the sectors of tourism, culture and in exchanging experiences. He said that Iraq is a major partner of Syria in the field of tourism.

Martini expressed his hope for achieving more cooperation between the two countries.
