Syria, Iran to enhance cooperation in the field of energy

Damascus, (ST) – Prime Minister Hussein Arnous on Wednesday received the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash, the head of the joint Syrian-Iranian Economic Committee for the Iranian side, and the accompanying delegation.

The two sides stressed the importance of seeking to increase cooperation in the fields of electric energy, oil derivatives, gas, communications and tourism, and the need to establish joint projects of economic feasibility.

The two sides also stressed the importance of opening new horizons for bilateral relations in a way that serves the common interest of the two friendly countries and peoples who are subjected to illegal economic sanctions and an unfair blockade.

The two sides affirmed that Syria and Iran faced common challenges and adversities together and provided support to each other at all stages. It is necessary to strengthen the well-established strategic relations that bind them.

Arnous drew attention to the determination of the Syrian government to improve relations between the two countries in various fields and at all levels, to continue implementing agreements and understandings and to overcome all difficulties. He stressed the need to increase communication and joint meetings between technicians from both sides to implement these projects and agreements. He stressed the need to strengthen the economic aspect and trade exchange and elevate it to the level of political relations and coordination existing between Syria and Iran.

For his part, Bazrpash stressed the importance of increasing the exchange of products, activating cooperation in the fields of maritime, land and railway transport and shipment , affirming the importance of strengthening the role of the business sector in the two countries.
