Syria, India to enhance cooperation in the fields of oil and mineral wealth

Damascus,(ST)- Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Firas Qaddour discussed with Irshad Ahmad, the Ambassador of the Republic of India in Damascus means of enhancing cooperation between Syria and India in the fields of oil, gas and mineral wealth.

Minister Qaddour expressed the readiness of the Syrian government to provide the appropriate environment and necessary facilitations to attract Indian companies interested in carrying out investments in Syria in the energy and mineral wealth sectors.

Qaddour also expressed the readiness of the Syrian government to encourage these companies to increase the volume of cooperation, exchange experiences and implement joint projects in these fields.

He called on Indian companies to carry out  investments in Syria in the field of oil industry and development and production of mineral wealth.

During the meeting, the possible ways of cooperation were discussed and the memorandums of understanding (MoU) signed between the two sides in the fields of oil and gas, scientific and technical development, training, and the establishment and activation of joint companies in a way that contributes to achieving development in the two countries, were reviewed.

For his part, the Indian Ambassador Irshad Ahmad expressed his confidence in the possibility of achieving multiple and diverse cooperation opportunities between India and Syria in the field of oil, gas and mineral resources.

He pointed to the importance of exchanging expertise and technology and developing trade relations between Indian and Syrian companies in these vital sectors.
