Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammouda Sabagh has stressed the need to consolidate the Syrian-Indian relations in all fields.
He made the remarks during his meeting on Tuesday with the Indian Ambassador in Damascus Ershad Ahmad.
Sabbagh affirmed the strength and depth of the historical relations between Syria and India, asserting the importance of consolidating them in all fields, particularly the parliamentary ones through exchanging visits and delegations and benefitting from the experiences of the two countries.
The Speaker explained the terrorist war and the unfair economic blockade that Syria has been facing, reiterating the continuous adherence to belonging to Arabism and affirming steadfastness in the face of challenges until the complete victory on terrorism is achieved.
For his part, the Indian Ambassador pointed out that the historical relations between the two countries have played an important role in withstanding wars and crises during different stages of history. He noted the importance of working to consolidate these relations in the parliamentary, educational and economic fields in a way that serves the interest of the Syrian and Indian peoples.
