Lynn Qassem, Director of the Syrian Science Olympiad, and Ahmed Al-Khamis, member of the Scientific Committee for Mathematics at the Syrian Science Olympiad.

The Agency pointed out that a remarkable progress was recorded in the international ranking of Syria in the list of countries participating in this Olympiad, to advance from the 70th to the 61st, despite the increase in the number of participating countries, compared to previous years. This year, 120 countries participated in the Olympiad compared to 104 countries in the previous year.

Syria proved its ability to maintain the third rank among Arab countries participating in the International Mathematics Olympiad. China ranked first, the United States of America ranked second, and Korea and Romania ranked third and fourth.

It is noteworthy that it is the fifteenth Syrian participation in this Olympiad, as the first participation was in 2009.

Last year, the Syrian Science Olympiad won a bronze medal, in addition to five certificates of appreciation.
