Syria follows up with great concern the situation of Syrians residing in brotherly Sudan: Foreign Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has affirmed that Syria is following up with great interest the situation of the Syrians residing in brotherly Sudan, and it wishes them and the brotherly Sudanese people security and safety.

The ministry said in a statement on Wednesday “within the framework of the Syrian government’s keenness to help the Syrian citizens wishing to be evacuated from Sudan, the ministry made contacts with brotherly and friendly countries to assist in the evacuation process” .

The statement indicated that since the outbreak of the events in Sudan, the Syrian embassy in Khartoum has registered lists of citizens wishing to be evacuated in cooperation with a number of members of the community.

The ministry added that “with the help of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hundreds of Syrians have so far been evacuated from the city of Port Sudan, to which a team from the embassy has arrived. Dozens others have been evacuated with the help of the brothers in the Kingdom of Jordan and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria”.

“Syria thanks all brotherly Arab countries for their fruitful humanitarian efforts, and appreciates highly the friendly Russian Federation for its valuable assistance in this regard” the ministry expressed .

The statement added “In a generous initiative, Cham Wings Airlines expressed its readiness to operate an evacuation flight from the city of Port Sudan, and the ministry made contacts with concerned sides to carry out this initiative according to the lists registered in the Syrian embassy in Khartoum.
