Syria discusses enhancing health cooperation with Egypt and China

Geneva, (ST) – The Minister of Health Hassan Al-Ghabbash discussed means of enhancing health cooperation with the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and the Chinese Deputy Minister of Health Cao Xuetao.

The discussions were held on the sidelines of the 76th session of the General Assembly of the World Health Organization.

Dr. Al-Ghabbash discussed the current health conditions in the world, and ways to boost cooperation between Syria and each of Egypt and China, with the aim of improving the health services that are provided to citizens, and reaching comprehensive health coverage.

The Minister of Health thanked China and Egypt for their humanitarian positions during the earthquake disaster in Syria, and for the assistance that was provided. He also thanked China for the assistance it provided to Syria during the Corona virus crisis. He noted the importance of strengthening health cooperation and exchanging experiences.

It is noteworthy that the World Health Assembly unanimously elected Syria in May 2021 during its 74th session as member of the Executive Council of the organization, representing the Eastern Mediterranean Region for a period of three years.
