Syria condemns US brutal aggression on Deir Ezzor, stresses its right to hold the aggressor accountable
Syria has condemned the US aggression that targeted several towns and villages as well as military sites in Deir Ezzor this dawn, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
The new US aggression claimed the lives of 7 soldiers and a civilian, wounded 32 soldiers and civilians and caused massive material damage to public and private property.
The ministry said that it has become clear that the US occupation forces and the Zionist occupation forces are exchanging roles in the service of their own goals and they seek aggravating the situation in the region and expanding the aggressive acts in Syria, Palestine and other countries that remain steadfast in the face of the massacres being committed by the American and Zionist forces to keep the region burning and far away from achieving just and comprehensive peace.
“Syria condemns this aggression and affirms its right to self-defense and to hold the aggressor accountable by the means recognized by the international law,” the ministry added, pointing out that Syria won’t forget those who attack its territories and commit crimes against the Syrian people.
The ministry clarified that “the United States has assigned itself as the World’s policeman under several pretexts that are condemned by the International Law and the International Humanitarian Law…Hence it should end its illegal presence in the Syrian territories and its blatant and limitless support for ISIS and other terror groups which it is funding, arming and encouraging to commit terrorist acts.
“Syria calls on all the countries that struggle to preserve their sovereignty, independence and unity to speak for firm principles of human rights by condemning and rejecting this aggression and by urging the United States to end its illegal presence and stop its terrorist military activities in the region,” the ministry concluded.
