Damascus, (ST) – Deputy Minister of Local Administration and the Chinese Ambassador in Damascus on Wednesday signed a protocol on receiving the aid sent to the earthquake victims provided by the Chinese government to the Syrian government.
The protocol was signed at Damascus International Airport.
It is to be noted that a Chinese plane arrived this morning at Damascus International Airport carrying relief aid to help those affected by the earthquake.
After signing the protocol, the Chinese Ambassador in Damascus, Shi Hongwei said in a statement to reporters that the plane was carrying 80 tons of humanitarian aid, including respirators, oxygen production equipment, and relief materials. He stressed that his country government is committed to providing more food and medical aid to support the Syrian government’s efforts to overcome the earthquake repercussions.
The Chinese ambassador pointed out that earlier, two planes loaded with humanitarian aid were also sent by the Chinese Red Cross. He indicated that intensive coordination will be made with the Syrian government to discuss how to provide more necessary aid, according to the needs in the next stage.
For his part, Assistant Minister of Local Administration and Environment Moataz Dohji thanked the People’s Republic of China for what it provided to Syria during and before this catastrophe during the years of the terrorist war on Syria. He pointed out that today’s aid shipment is the third provided by China.
