Syria, China discuss enhancing cooperation in the field of security

Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Interior, Major General Muhammad Al-Rahmon discussed with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Damascus, Shi Hongwei the joint cooperation relations between the two countries, and means of developing these relations in different fields, especially in the domain of security, combating terrorism and combating crimes of all kinds.

Major General Al-Rahmoun affirmed the Interior Ministry’s keenness to provide all facilities to Chinese citizens residing in Syria, and to address issues related to them.

The Minister of Interior thanked the Chinese government for standing by the Syrian people and government in its battle against terrorism. He also thanked the Chinese government for supporting the Syrian government’s efforts to overcome the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that hit Syria last February, and to provide humanitarian aid to those affected.

For his part, the Chinese ambassador in Damascus stressed the depth of the strong relations between the two friendly countries, and confirmed his country’s support for Syria and keenness to provide humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people. He stressed the need for cooperation in the security field to eliminate terrorism.
