Syria, Chile discuss strengthening cooperation in seismic studies

The Minister of Public Works and Housing Suhail Mohammad Abdullatif discussed with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Chilean Embassy in Damascus Jose Patricio Brickel prospects of enhancing cooperation between Syria and Chile, especially in the subject of seismic studies.

During the meeting, that was held on Monday at the Ministry’s building, the special report prepared by Chilean experts and academics in cooperation with those concerned in the Ministry and the provinces that were struck by the earthquake in Syria in February of last year, was submitted.

Abdullatif pointed to the joint cooperation between technicians from the two sides and the possibility of reaching a memorandum of understanding that frames the exchange of expertise technically and temporally in several fields, including the issue of the earthquake, and benefiting from the extensive experience that Chile possesses in this field.

Fore his part, The Charge d’Affaires of the Chilean Embassy noted the technical expertise that Syria possesses in the field of engineering studies, noting that the benefit of the studies conducted contributed to the exchange of experiences between Chilean and Syrian engineers.
