Syria calls for urgent international action to stop the Israeli aggressive actions on Syrian territory

On February 19th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed that “Syria expects the United Nations General Secretariat and the Security Council to condemn the Israeli attacks and crimes and take the necessary measures to deter them, hold accountable and punish their perpetrators, and ensure that they are not repeated.”

The ministry said in a statement:“At a time when Syria was healing its wounds, burying its martyrs, and receiving condolences, sympathy, and international humanitarian support in the face of the devastating earthquake, the Israeli occupation entity launched an air aggression at dawn today, targeting residential neighborhoods inhabited by civilians in Damascus, which resulted in an initial death toll of 5 people, 15were injured and a number of houses were destroyed.”

The ministry added: “The aggression comes in the context of the systematic Israeli targeting of Syrian civilian targets, including homes, service centers, airports, and ports, intimidating the Syrians who are still suffering from the catastrophic effects left by the earthquake and working to support those affected by it.”

The ministry said: “The Israel aggression also coincided with the attacks carried out by the terrorist organization “ISIS”, which resulted in the death of dozens of unarmed civilians in the eastern countryside of Homs governorate.”

The ministry stressed that “the continuation of the government of the terrorist occupation entity with its brutal attacks and crimes against the Palestinian and Syrian people constitutes an explicit threat to peace and security in the region.

The ministry called for urgent international action to halt the Israeli aggressive actions on Syrian territory.
