Syria, Abkhazia to enhance Parliamentary relations

Damascus, (ST) – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hamouda Sabbagh stressed the strength of the Syrian-Abkhazian relations and the importance of enhancing these relations in different fields.

During his meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Abkhazia to Syria Khotaba Bagrat Rashovich, Sabbagh stressed the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the People’s Assemblies of both countries.

Sabbagh indicated the importance of exchanging visits and experiences in a way that achieves the common benefit of the two friendly peoples. He appreciated Abkhazia’s honorable stances in support of Syria, in addition to its humanitarian stance and solidarity with the Syrian people in the face of the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that struck a number of Syrian governorates last February.

For his part, Ambassador Rakovic affirmed that Syria, despite all the difficult circumstances it was exposed to, will remain strong and unbreakable, deriving its strength from the will of its people.

Rakovic indicated the importance of developing relations with Syria in various fields to achieve further progress and strengthen the role of the two Parliamentary friendship committees in both countries for the good of their peoples, extending condolences to the families of the victims of the earthquake disaster and to the families of the righteous martyrs of Syria.
