VIENNA, (ST)-The terrorist war on Syria is an American-Israeli aggression backed by the NATO, Gulf States and the Turkish regime aiming to undermine the potentials, sovereignty and independent decision of the Syrian state and to destroy its institutions and social fabric, according to Swiss peace activists.
“The Syrian government, people and army are facing the most heinous American and Israeli-orchestrated terrorist aggression supported by NATO, Gulf States and the Turkish regime,” said Marcus Haizman, member of the “Hands off Syria” initiative, pointing out that the Syrian army is fighting terrorism from all over the world and that the Syrian leadership is defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria.
During a symposium in the Austrian capital Vienna, Haizman stressed that before the terrorist war on Syria the Syrian state had strong potentials and it was a self-sufficient country that provided wide range of services to its citizens through is institutions.
He reiterated Syria’s right to restore the occupied Syrian Golan occupied by Israel and Liwa Iskenderun occupied by Turkey.
On her part, Eva Haizman, also a peace activist, said that the West and its allies have supported the terrorist organizations fighting the Syrian army and destroying the Syrian religious and cultural monuments and infrastructure.
She presented a photo show about her visit to Syria last October, explaining the destructive role played by the mercenaries in Syria including their attacks on humanitarian aid convoys.
She hailed Syria’s cultural heritage and civilization and highly appreciated the Syrian government’s efforts to meet the basic needs of citizens despite the difficult circumstances Syria has been experiencing over the past six years.
Syrian activist Mamoun Shawki said the terrorists and mercenaries have got support and funding from the Saudi and Qatari regimes and received political support from the United States, European countries and the Turkish regime.
He stressed that the terrorists in the eastern districts of Aleppo are using civilians as human shields and they kill everyone trying to escape the area under their control.
“The West has sought justifying terrorism in Syria since the start of the so-called [Arab Spring], said Shawki hailing the Syrian army’s efforts to eliminate terrorism and restore security and stability across Syria.
Priest Hanna Ghneim, another activist, also presented a photo show about his visit to Homs, Aleppo and other Syrian cities. The photos documented the destruction caused to the Syrian religious and archeological monuments and to institutions and infrastructure by terrorist attacks.
