Swiss Federal Council: International isolation of Russia is not possible

Bern, (ST) – The Swiss Federal Council considered that the world has become multipolar, and that isolating Russia is not possible due to the refusal of many countries to impose sanctions against it.

The Council indicated in a report on Wednesday, published  by RIA Novosti Agency, that 9 member states of the Group of 20 did not abide by the sanctions resolution.

The report added that many African countries, Middle East and Asia do not wish to take a position in favor of one pole at the expense of the other and are committed to neutrality.

The report pointed out that the energy and food crisis resulting from the conflict in Ukraine led to a clear change in the existing regional equations. “This crisis created new consequences and alliances that formed a multipolar world”, the report added.

The report emphasized that although Europe is the most committed country to the implementation of sanctions, some European countries refuse to comply and others evade the total commitment.
