Sweida governorate’s production of cucumbers for the current season hit 1592 tons

SWEIDA, Jul.17, (ST)- The Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida governorate has estimated the governorate’s total production of cucumbers for the current summer season at 1592 tons.

According to the  Assistant Director of Agriculture,  Alaa Shehayeb, the production for the current season is good, compared to the cultivated areas, which amounted to about 459 dunums, the majority of which are concentrated in the places where wells are spread, especially in the western countryside of the governorate.

Shehayeb indicated that the directorate encourages farmers to grow this crop within the approved plans because of its good economic returns and the creation of many job opportunities.

Last season, the governorate produced 1584 tons of cucumbers within the 570 dunums cultivated areas.
