Deputy Governor of Sweida, Eng. Wael Jarbou, confirmed in a press statement today that the work will be continued in preserving the current situation and preparing to manage the affairs of citizens with a continuous presence of members of the Executive Office, each in his sector, coinciding with the start of cleaning work and removing traces of vandalism, to which most of the people were subjected. He pointed out that what happened will not discourage workers in the governorate from performing their duty towards citizens and starting work again.
Jarbou stated that the damage to the governorate offices and its contents is very large, and the cost of its rehabilitation, restoration and compensation requires exorbitant sums in light of the difficult current circumstances, and this will not be at the expense of any of the budgets allocated to service issues, so the restoration work will be delayed until the necessary funds are available.
On the other hand, popular delegations from the city of Sweida visited the governorate building and they were briefed on the extent of the damage caused to it and its contents. The delegations expressed their condemnation of such acts of vandalism and assault on public property and state institutions that are the property of citizens, indicating that preserving them is a moral and patriotic duty, and it is not permissible to destroy public property under any circumstances.
