Sweida Craftsmen Enthusiastic for Participating in Damascus International Fair

SWEIDA, (ST)- Craftsmen of Syria’s Sweida province believe that their participation in the 61st Damascus International Fair would introduce and promote their products which reflect the specialty of the province.

Jinan Kamal Eddin told the Syrian News Agency SANA that her participation in the last two fairs, which included some handicrafts, artistic works and cloth recycling, was a new start for her work and a further motive to excel, particularly because many visitors contacted her to buy a variety of her works.

On his part, Nayef Sneih, who is taking part for the second time in the fair, said he aims to introduce and open new markets for the province’s food industries like the manufacturing of grape and apple molasses and juice. He stressed that Damascus International Fair is an opportunity to promote Syrian products in both local and foreign markets.

Samira Saraya, on her part, talked about her enthusiasm to display her wooden artistic works, like antiques, jewelry boxes and other works carved on wood. She said that she successfully participated in last year’s fair, a participation that encouraged her to expand and promote her art.

Basema Obeid, who manufactures candles, said that the fair is an opportunity for craftsmen and artisans to exhibit their industries, noting that it also creates job and investment opportunities.

Work is being sped up in the Fairgrounds in preparation for holding Damascus International Fair between August 28th and September 6th.

Preparations for opening the Fair are almost completed and the final touches are being put on the aesthetic aspects such as lights, green spaces, and fountains, according to Director General of the Public Establishment for International Fairs and Exhibitions Ghassan al-Fakiani.

He said that transportation services are provided for free to visitors of the fair in which 38 Arab and foreign countries are taking part officially.
