SWEIDA, (ST)- Marking the first anniversary of the passing away of late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the Syrian Venezuelan Friendship Society recently opened a photo exhibition in Sweida in cooperation with the Venezuelan Embassy in Syria
The fair, which was organized under the title “Chavez Passed from Here”, included documents and 52 photos depicting the leader’s latest visit to Syria, namely to Sweida province. The photos shed light on the strong friendship between the two countries.
Governor of Al- Sweida province Atif Naddaf said during the ceremony that “by the death of the great late Venezuelan leader Chafez we lost a real friend”, referring to the leader’s humanitarian attitudes in support of just Arab causes against oppression, aggression, terrorism and the Zionist projects in the region.
For his part, Sheikh Akel Muslim Drouz al- Mouhdeen Hamoud Hinawi talked about the deeply-rooted fraternity ties between Syria and Venezuela and urged developing mutual ties in all fields.
The Venezuelan Ambassador in Syria Emad Saab also asserted that the exhibition came within the framework of many educational activities scheduled to be held in Damascus in honor of the 1st anniversary of the passing away of the late Venezuelan leader.
The Ambassador also spoke about Syria’s current ordeal expressing complete concern over current events .
“what is currently taking place in Syria is a real global conspiracy targeting the country’s firm national stances on defending just Arab causes.” The ambassador said.
Secretary of the Society in Sweida, for his part, also highlighted Venezuela’s supportive position towards the Syrian people, citing the Venezuelan government’s complete support for the Syrian community in Venezuela.
The ceremony was attended by General Secretary of the Baath Arab Socialist Party in Sweida Shibli Janoud and Skiekh Yousif Jarboua in addition to other concerned parties.
