Suspects Arrested after terror attack in Iranian city of Shiraz

Tehran – Four suspects have been arrested in connection with a deadly terrorist attack on the Shah-e Cheragh shrine in Iran’s southern city of Shiraz, a judicial official said.
“With the investigations carried out so far, four suspects linked to this incident have been arrested,” the chief justice of Fars province, Kazem Mousavi, said this morning, Iranian media outlets reported.

He added that the main terrorist, who started shooting at people in the shrine and was immediately arrested, has been handed over to investigators for interrogation and further investigation.

The provincial head of the Justice Ministry said that the main element behind a deadly terrorist attack on the Shah-e Cheragh shrine in Iran’s southern city of Shiraz has Tajik nationality.

At least two people have been killed and eight others injured in an armed terrorist attack at the Shah-e Cheragh shrine Sunday evening.

The Daesh (aka ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the deadly assault.

The Shah-e Cheragh shrine was the scene of a similar attack by armed terrorists last year.

On October 26, 2022, an armed terrorist barged into the shrine, killing 15 pilgrims, including women and children, and injuring dozens more before he was shot and injured by security forces.

Kanaani condemns terrorist attack in Shiraz

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a shrine yesterday in the city of Shiraz, stressing that the continuation of the terrorist organization “ISIS” in committing all kinds of heinous crimes is due to the support of some countries for this terror organization.

In his weekly press conference, Kanaani said that some countries have used this terrorist organization and others to harm the people of the region to serve their political and security purposes in the region.

He noted that the terrorist attack on visitors in Shiraz is a criminal act of revenge for the fierce strikes of the Iranian security forces against terrorism.
