Supreme Leader: Saudi massacre of Yemenis is worst kind of terrorism

Tehran, Oct 26, IRNA – Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that Saudi massacre of the Yemeni people is the worst type of terrorism.

The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with Finland President Sauli Niinisto.

The Supreme Leader said that campaign against terrorism needs collective resolve of all those having influence with the international powers and that the wise people of the world, the governments and the distinguished noble individuals should think about terrorism and take action to remedy the ailment, according to IRNA.

The Supreme Leader deplored absence of serious resolve in campaign against terrorism and mass killing of the Yemeni people.

The Leader deplored the fact that terrorism does not belong to the non-governmental groups.

‘To the contrary, the massacre of the Yemeni people is taking place by certain governments including the Saudi government attacking memorial services of the ordinary people. It is the worst kind of terrorism. Killing several hundred people and maiming hundreds of others is the worst kind of terrorism.’

‘Despite lapse of one year and seven months, no serious resolve is seen to deal with such heinous crimes against humanity, ‘ the Supreme Leader said.

The Supreme Leader said that the US and certain other governments claim to support the international campaign against terrorismm, but, they are not serious.

‘The governments take all issues based on their own interests and do not think of uprooting the malady of terrorism either in Iraq or in Syria.’

The Supreme Leader said that the Islamic Republic of Iran calls for resolving the Syrian crisis in a logical way based on support for the legal government and national resolve of the Syrian people.

The Leader said the US and certain other governments insist on change of the Syrian government, while to end the war, the initiator and the factors leading to the conflict must be introduced.

The Supreme Leader recalled a critical view of the Iranians about procrastination of the United Nations to introduce Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein as initiator of war on Iran in 1980, saying that the procrastination caused the eight-year war of attrition.

The UN secretary-general Javier Pérez de Cuéllar introduced Saddam as initiator of war on Iran in 1988.

On the same standpoint, Ayatollah Khamenei criticized stances of the current UN Chief and said, ‘The UN Secretary General has explicitly announced that due to dependence of the organization on Saudi money, it is not possible to condemn massacre of the Yemeni children; this shows deplorable moral status of international policy makers and we hope the next UN chief will be able to protect independent of the position.’

The Supreme Leader welcomed growing cooperation with government of Finland and said the Memorandum of Understanding, signed between the two governments, should be put into operation.

The Supreme Leader cautioned against failure to implement the agreements, saying that it may have negative impression on mind of the people.

President Niinisto said for his part that he was pleased with his negotiations with Iranian officials in Tehran and said four MoUs for cooperation in various sectors were signed on Wednesday and good steps were taken during talks between commercial delegations of the two countries.

He said that absolutely, the MoUs will not be in paper and tangible results will be sought through their enforcement as the community of Finnish merchants and traders are decisive for serious and effective cooperation with Iran.

He expressed concern about spread of terrorism in the past 10 years and the current ‘tumultuous’ situation in the world.

‘Terrorism has emerged on a wide and new scale, making many people homeless; unfortunately, many children and mothers are killed in Syria, Iraq and Yemen today.’

He confirmed the guidelines of the Supreme Leader on terrorism and said governments and UN have not been successful in controlling and fighting terrorism.

He acknowledged Iran’s influence and outstanding role and influence in the region and its major role in campaign against terrorism.

President Niinisto said that Iran did its best in the campaign against terrorism and it will definitely continue to do so in future.
