The Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections received from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad the results of the votes of the Syrian voters residing abroad who participated in the presidential elections that took place in the Syrian embassies.
Head of the Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections, Judge Samer Zamrik, confirmed in a press conference that the results of the elections abroad will be combined with the results of the elections inboard that will take place next Wednesday and then the final results will be announced.
Zamrik indicated that the number of electoral centers in all governorates reached 12 thousand centers, which could be increased during the next two days according to need and necessity, pointing out that the number of electoral centers and the number of ballot boxes in the countryside of Damascus is the largest.
For his part, Minister Al-Miqdad pointed out that the elections in all the Syrian embassies took place in a wonderful atmosphere of facilities, freedom and democracy.
Minister Al-Miqdad highlighted the wide participation of Syrians abroad in the elections which in turn reflect their ability to exercise their electoral right and to confirm to those who tried to prevent them from exercising this right that no one can deter them from exercising their right.
Tens of thousands of Syrian citizens from all regions of Lebanon went to the headquarters of the Syrian embassy in Beirut, and had it not been for the brutal attacks committed against them, the voting process would have continued for two, three and four days if the Judicial Committee allowed it, Al-Miqdadadded.
Minister Al-Miqdad condemned the attacks on the Syrian electorate in Lebanon, adding that the Lebanese government is responsible for dealing with this situation. He noted that Syria welcomes all Syrians who they have been prevented from exercising their right in Lebanon to go to their country, Syria, to exercise this right.
Al-Miqdad added: The Syrians will prove once again in the coming hours that they are committed to their homeland, reconstruction and combating terrorism, and that they are supporting their homeland and their army until the final victory is achieved.
For his part, Minister of Justice, Judge Ahmed Al-Sayed, expressed his appreciation to the Supreme Judicial Committee, which manages the electoral process until the end with full transparency and impartiality, as stipulated in Article 8 of Law No. 5 of 2014.
