Supreme Constitutional Court issues final list of candidates for presidency

The final list of candidates for presidency was issued on Monday by the Supreme Constitutional Court.

The list includes candidates Abdullah Salloum Abdullah, Bashar Hafez Al-Assad and Mahmoud Ahmad Mar’ai.

In a press conference, Head of the Court Mohammad Jihad Al-Lahham said that the Court panel studied the complaints submitted to the court by other nominees and decided to reject them all for not containing any documents that back their complaints.

He added that the court’s announcement is a notice for the three candidates to start their election campaign as of Sunday, May 16th until Monday, May 24th.

Al-Lahham pointed out that the court is working in accordance with the country’s constitution and law based on official documents attached to the candidacy applications. The court pays no attention to rumors or complaints against any candidate that are not backed by documents.
