The second Festival of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash kicked off Tuesday in al-Qarya town in the southern Sweida province to shed light on the role of culture and creativity in building a human being.
The festival also aims to show appreciation for Sultan Pasha al-Atrash, the Commander of the great Syrian Revolution in 1925, and to focus on the Syrian people’s ability to go ahead with offering sacrifices despite the attempts of the forces of evil to undermine Syrians’ cultural values, according to the Deputy Minister of Culture Tawfiq al-Imam.
Al-Imam described the festival, which will last until April 21, as a ‘national cultural activity’.
The three-day activity includes several exhibitions, three films, poetry evening, symposium and concerts.
On April 18, 2015, the 1st festival of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash was held in the cultural center in Sweida city to assert that the national unity still lingers in the heart of the Syrian people.
