Suffering of the locals in Ghweiran and Al-Zuhour neighborhoods in Hasakah exacerbates due to the SDF militia’s aggressive practices

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) separatist militia continues with its tight siege on the neighborhoods of Ghweiran and Al-Zuhour in Syria’s Hasakah, exacerbating the suffering of the locals who were not able to leave these areas to safer places in city during the recent clashes and the US occupation shelling on these neighborhoods under the pretest of searching for escapees from the Industrial High School-based prison.

Local sources in Al-Zuhour neighborhood told SANA that the SDF militia closed the neighborhood, built sandbag barriers in its vicinity and prevented both vehicles and individuals from entering it amid the massive suffering of the locals due to severe shortages in services and food.

According to the sources, these SDF’s aggressive practices raise the locals’ fears of a further step that may lead to their displacement from this neighborhood as it is located near a military base for the US occupation.

The sources added that under the pretext of the events that took place in the neighborhood during the past days, the SDF militia is trying to impose a difficult situation on the locals to force them to leave their houses so it can evacuate the entire neighborhood and use it as a headquarter for its militants and for the US occupation forces.

In the same context, local sources in Ghweiran neighborhood said that the aggressive practices of the SDF militia towards the locals come in implementation of the US occupation’s schemes, pointing out that what happened recently in the industrial high school-based prison was nothing but a pretext to destroy the houses and buildings surrounding and overlooking the headquarters and bases of the US occupation in this area.

The locals called on international organizations and all humanitarian and relief bodies to assist the locals in returning to stability and to put an end to the practices of the SDF militia which continues to demolish and raze the houses in Ghweiran neighborhood and displace hundreds of families.
