Sudanese analyst to ST: Military rebellion will never help anyone assume power

The Sudanese political analyst  Dr. Issam Dakkin has said that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were part of the armed forces and they were operating under their orders although many considered this  as a sharp stake left by the former Sudanese president Omar Al-Bashir.

In a statement to Syria Times e-newspaper, Dr. Dakkin asserted that the Sudanese people do not want a military force outside the army.

“The Sudanese people do not want to dismantle their armed forces under the pretext that the army is ideological because they saw how the armies of Iraq, Yemen and Libya were replaced by militias…They also do not want foreign interference in their internal affairs, and they do not want to be controlled by certain political forces,” he added.

The analyst indicated that the RSF want to end the conflict as they have failed to achieve victory. “Yes, we are with ending the war but after ending the rebellion and eliminating agents……The letter sent by Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok requesting the UN Security Council to establish a peace support operation under Chapter VI in the form of a “special political mission with a strong peacebuilding component” is treason and it is behind the conflict in the country.”

He believes that Sudan will win in this war and there will be a new political charter which excludes no-one except agents and rebels.

Dr. Dakkin concluded by saying: “Foreign interference and military rebellion will never help anyone assume power.”
