Sudan’s Transitional Military Council Announces Dialogue with Political Forces

KHARTOUM-Sudan’s Transitional Military Council has announced a dialogue with the political forces, except the National Congress,  to reduce the risks facing Sudan and to agree on solutions that satisfy the ambitions of the Sudanese people, the Sudanese News Agency SUNA reported.

Chairman of the Political Committee of the Transitional Military Council Lt. Gen. Omer Zainal-Abidin, has called in a press conference at the Ministry of Defence Saturday, on the political forces and the societal and the professional entities not to lose the opportunity.

 He called on armed movements to participate in dialogue, and pledged equal opportunities for dialogue with all the political and societal forces and armed movements.

He said that “We have no solutions to economic problems and it is up to the dialogue to find solutions to the problems of the country”.

He denied that the Council has any connection with any ideology or entity, but we just came to arrange the situation in the country for a transition to peaceful rule

With regard to external work, he announced the start of contacts to secure the appropriate climate to move internally and externally to lift the blockade imposed on Sudan.

Sudan defense minister steps down as head of transitional military council

In another development, Sudan’s Defence Minister Awad Ibn Auf said on Friday that he is stepping down as head of the country’s transitional military council, according to Reuters.

Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan will be the new head of the transitional military council, Ibn Auf said in a speech broadcast on state television on Friday.
