“Sucette” Restaurant and Café” project ensured 30 job opportunities for young men and women with Down syndrome

DAMASCUS, JUL.12, (ST)- The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mohammad Seif El-Din, has affirmed the ministry’s support for the activities and programs of NGOs related to empowering persons with disabilities in terms of training and rehabilitating them to enter the labor market.

He indicated that the experience of the “Juzour” Association in this field through its “Sucette” Restaurant project in Tishreen Park is one of the successful and distinguished experiences, as it was able to  ensure job opportunities for about 30 young men and women with Down syndrome since the opening of the project last year until now.

Regarding the “Sucette” Restaurant and Café” project, which was launched last August, the “Juzour” Association’s Chairwoman, Kholoud Rajab, said that it is the first of its kind in Syria and has succeeded in making the people with disabilities active in the society.

Rajab pointed out that the association is seeking to expand its experience to include other areas in Damascus or the governorates to reach the largest number of beneficiaries with different disabilities and achieve a real integration of them into society.
