Strengthening Economic and Investment Cooperation with Belarus Discussed

Damascus, (ST) – Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Adib Mayaleh discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Ponomarev in Damascus ways to strengthen and develop trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides pointed to the importance of activating the role of the Syrian Business Council of Belarus in enhancing cooperation and coordination for the establishment of a delegation of businessmen and investors from the Syrians who are interested in cooperation with the Republic of Belarus to visit Minsk in the near future to discuss the opportunities and possible areas of cooperation and the holding of trade and investment partnerships between the two sides.

 

The Minister underlined the importance of expanding the volume of trade exchange and activate investment cooperation between the two countries, particularly with regard to the resumption of the implementation of a group of Belarusian investment projects in Syria, which were discussed between the two sides earlier and seeking to establish commercial and industrial new partnerships, noting the importance of encouraging the export of Syrian vegetables and fruits to Belarus, especially citrus and apples.

For his part, Mr. Ponomarev noted to the participation of Belarusian companies in the Reconstruction Exhibition of Syria to be held on September 7 at the fairgrounds in Damascus, pointing to the importance of finding an appropriate mechanism to provide funding for the implementation of investment projects to be agreed upon between the parties.

Mr. Ponomarev confirmed the importance of working to establish a regular line of air transport between Syria and Belarus to contribute to the revitalization of businessmen, investors and tourists between the two countries.
