(ST)- Director-General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry lands (ACSAD) Dr. Rafik Ali Saleh and the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan in Syria, Khalid Ahmed Mohammed Ali, recently discussed means of developing cooperation between the two sides.
The Ambassador emphasized his satisfaction over the process of growing cooperation between the two sides, praising the fruitful outcome of the projects carried out by the Arab Center (ACSAD) in Sudan, such as the projects performed in the animal production areas, animal health, pasture and fodder, in the field of rehabilitation and training of technical personnel in the areas of all the previous cooperation, stressing the need to benefit from the expertise of the center in many development projects in the next phase.
For his part, Dr. Saleh, during the meeting which took place in his office in Damascus, expressed appreciation for the support given to the Arab Center (ACSAD) from Sudan, stressing the desire to promote scientific and technical cooperation with the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture, and all the relevant authorities, to achieve optimum utilization of modern technologies, and the application of sound natural resources management and the development of efficient Sudanese technical personnel for sustainable agricultural development in Sudan.
The two sides also discussed cooperation agreement between ACSAD and the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture, which was signed in Khartoum in 2014.
Dr. Saleh pointed out that the Arab Center (ACSAD) will send in the nearby phase a multidisciplinary delegation in the areas of combating desertification, water resources and pastures and others, to discuss the Sudanese needs and provide technical support and necessary scientific expertise.
The two sides also discussed Arab affairs in the agricultural sector and ways to achieve Arab food and water security.
