Steadfastness of Syrian People, Army and Leadership Has Been Main Factor in Victory over Terrorism

BEIRUT, (ST)- Secretary General  of Hizbollah national resistance movement Hassan Nasrallah has stressed that the steadfastness of the Syrian people, army and leadership has been the main factor in victory over terrorism, clarifying that Syria’s allies have played an assisting role in this victory.

“We are in front of a big victory in Syria, but it hasn’t been final yet,” Nasrallah told al-Mayadeen TV in an interview Wednesday night, pointing out that “the war on Syria is in its last stages, as Daesh terrorist organization has been eliminated, but Jabhat al-Nusra terror group still exists.”

Narrallah clarified that Daesh could have been eliminated earlier if the US support to this terror group had stopped.

Political solution initiatives

Regarding political solution initiatives in Syria, Hizbollah Secretary General reiterated that dialogue should be held without preconditions, because imposing preconditions, particularly by the “Riyadh opposition group”, which is disconnected and has no idea about what is happening on ground  in Syria, blocks dialogue that aims at reaching peaceful solution.

In a different context, Nasrallah said that US President Donald Trump’s al-Quds decision means the end of Israel and the end of the peace process between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

Trump’s al-Quds decision brought peace process to an end

“Trump’s decision on al-Quds hurt the holy city, which is of great importance to millions of Muslims and Christians. This decision plus the latest Israeli Knesset bill on the city have brought the peace process to an end,” he added, reiterating that the solution can be reached through adopting the course of resistance.

He pointed out that the Palestinian people are adherent to their rights and they insist on maintaining al-Quds as the eternal capital of their state, stressing the need to support the Palestinian resistance by weapons all the time not only as a response to Trump’ decision.

America, Israel and Saudi Arabia have exploited riots in Iran

On the recent riot incidents in Iran, Nasrallah expressed confidence that Iran will bring the riots under full control, saying that the outcome of the recent protests will disappoint US President Donald Trump.

“Trump’s hopes have been disappointed” as will the hopes of “all those who bet that the protests would grow and lead to the fall of the government and chaos in Iran,” he added.

He further stressed that the unrest was sparked by economical factors that were exploited by external forces, pointing out that “America, Israel and Saudi Arabia have entered the crisis in Iran”.

Regarding Lebanon, Nasrallah clarified that there has been a dangerous Saudi plan to lead Lebanon to a government vacuum, chaos and armed conflict through forcing the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri to resign.
