GENEVA- Statements by Western officials on the failure of Geneva2 talks are absolutely incorrect and exaggerated; Information Minister Omran al-Zo’bi told the Syrian TV on Saturday, pointing out that the UN Syria Envoy Lakhdar Brahimi and Syria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations basher al-Jaafari have stressed that the political track will continue and the second round of talks will be followed by more meetings.
Al-Zou’bi stressed that the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic will continue proceeding in the political track to find a solution to the crisis in the country, and it insists on conducting a serious debate that starts with talking about abandoning violence and fighting terrorism and then moves to the rest of the details.
The minister affirmed that the official delegation didn’t feel embarrassed about discussing any item even the one connected with the “transitional government”, pointing out that any other statements showing the opposite are fabrications aiming at misleading the public opinion in Syria and the world.
“We are the ones who exactly know what is really happening on ground and how huge the suffering of our people in all provinces is, not those who talk from their hotels and receives dictates from their suspicious masters,” said al-Zou’bi
“We would like to assure our people in Syria that we are ready to go to the end of the world in order to make the political track a success, halt the shedding of Syrian blood, preserve national principles and protect the national interests and sovereignty of the Syrian state,” he added.
He affirmed “We are working to convince the opposite side (opposition) to join us as a partner in fighting terrorism and ending violence, because we don’t have any problem with all national people who seek political solution in the country.”
