Statement by the Representative of the United States to the United Nations before the Security Council:
– We welcome the participation of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani in our meeting.
– We commend the Council for supporting an investigation into the crimes committed by the former regime in Syria.
– We expect Syria to hold accountable all those responsible for the events in the Coastal Region, ensuring that no one is above the law.
– The Syrian people deserve a leadership that can guide them toward a better future than they experienced under the Assad regime.
– Countries should expedite the deportation of their citizens associated with ISIS in Syria.
