Start of meeting of Syrian and Russian coordination commissions

The Joint meeting of the Syrian and Russian coordination commissions started  at the Conferences Palace in Damascus, within the framework of the work of the 4th  follow-up meeting of the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees and displaced people.

Engineer Hussein Makhlouf, head of the Syrian Ministerial Coordination Committee and Minister of Local Administration and Environment, said during the meeting that “the two commissions  are seeking to return the largest number of Syrian refugees and displaced people, and this goal is a priority for Syria.

Makhlouf added that the number of displaced people returning from abroad since the establishment of the Joint Commission in 2018 has reached more than two and a half million.

Makhlouf stressed that the Turkish occupation continues to support terrorists and steal Syria’s wealth, and his talk about the so-called “safe zone” is a described aggression, while the American occupation is the first reason for the suffering of the Syrian people and depriving them of their resources.

Makhlouf continued: We will move forward in the process of combating terrorism and the occupation, and we will work to return every refugee and displaced person to the homeland, and we will continue the reconstruction process.

In turn, the head of the Russian Ministerial Coordination Commission and Head of the National Defense Administration Center, General Mikhail Mizintsev, confirmed via video that Russia will continue to provide comprehensive support to Syria in order to restore normal life, combat terrorism and confront Western sanctions.

Mizintsev said that the illegal Western sanctions imposed on Syria impede the return of the displaced and refugees and exacerbate the suffering of the Syrian people.

In his speech, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, said that Syria continues to work for the return of all displaced persons and refugees to their cities and villages.

Al-Miqdad added that we affirm our support for Russia in its stance to defend justice and rights in Donbass, and this stance has given great hope to the people of the world that we are moving towards a bright future for humanity away from greedy and brutal Western control.

Al-Miqdad stressed that the West did not say a single word in condemning the recent Israeli aggression, which put a civilian facility, Damascus International Airport, out of service.

Al-Miqdad indicated that the money provided by the West during the so-called “Brussels Conference” goes to terrorists who continue to target the Syrian people and infrastructure.

“The so-called “safe zone” that Erdogan wants is for the settlement of the terrorists he trained, and we hope that all countries do not support his ambitions,” Al-Miqdad continued
