As part of its cultural activities, the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus screened on Saturday  a documentary film about the most famous landmarks of the capital Moscow and the most attractive one  to tourists which is  “St. Basil’s Cathedral”.

The film included a presentation of the history of the cathedral, which was founded in 1562, as well as  its religious, architectural and artistic importance, which  has become a source of inspiration for artists to display  paintings of different art schools.

The cathedral is considered  also a tourist attraction in the middle of the Red Square, which receives  thousands of visitors from around the world.

The film reviewed the historical events that the church went through, the challenges and difficulties it faced, referring to its sections and its museum, which includes many artifacts, icons, drawings and decorations selected from the sixteenth century to this very day.

On the 22nd of this month, a book discussion on Damascus during the period of 1902 will be held at the Russian Cultural Center.
