Spokesperson of Fact-Finding Committee on the Syrian Coast events: We inspected 9 sites that witnessed violations

Spokesperson of the Fact-Finding Committee on the Syrian Coast events Yasser Al-Farhan has stated that the circumstances are not ideal, and “we need everyone’s cooperation to uncover the facts”.

 

In a statement on Tuesday, Al-Farhan said “We have inspected nine sites of the violations and heard testimonies from security, military, and civilian authorities in Latakia.”

 

The Spokesperson added “We recorded 95 statements in accordance with legal standards and received more than 30 reports regarding the events”.

 

The Spokesperson for the Fact-Finding Committee also said: “We heard eyewitness testimonies from nine locations where violence occurred”.

 

He noted the plan to move to Tartous, Baniyas, Hama, and Idlib to find the facts.

 

The Spokesperson said: “We met with representatives of civil society and learned about their perspectives”, appreciating the important role of media in supporting the transparency of the committee’s work.

 

The Spokesperson also said: “We appreciate the role of witnesses and victims’ families in cooperating with us, and we respect their privacy.”

 

He concluded by saying “our circumstances are not ideal, and we need everyone’s cooperation to uncover the facts.”
