Spokesperson for the UN Special Envoy for Syria: We are closely following up on consultations on Syrian National Dialogue Conference

The spokesperson for the UN Special Envoy for Syria Jenifer Fenton announced “we are closely following up on the dialogue sessions held by the Preparatory Committee for the National Dialogue Conference in Syria”.

 

In a news briefing, Fenton referred to the formation of the Preparatory Committee for the National Dialogue and the “consultations” taking place in the governorates in this regard. She said: “We are following this process closely”.

 

The spokesperson considered that conducting a transparent, reliable and comprehensive consultation process with the participation of all segments of society is essential to enhance public confidence in the transitional political process.

 

He stressed the need to establish peace and stability with the aim of achieving a comprehensive transition in Syria.

 

Last Wednesday, the Syrian presidency announced the formation of a committee to prepare for the National Dialogue Conference, which comprised: Hassan Al-Daghim, Maher Alloush, Muhammad Mustat, Mustafa Al-Musa, Youssef Al-Hajr, Hind Qabwat, and Huda Al-Atassi.
