Special Groups From Donetsk and Russian Forces Storm Ukrainian Positions in Mariupol

Moskow , (ST)     The spokesman for the forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Edward Basurin, announced that a special group, in cooperation  with the Russian forces, began storming into the Azovstal metallurgical factory in Mariupol, where the last groups of the Ukrainian forces were besieged.

In an interview with Russia 24 TV channel, Basurin said that Azovstal is an industrial area located in the center of the city, and  the attack  on the  facility had already begun , while Russia is providing assistance in this with aviation and artillery.

Basudin affirmed that the residential areas in the city are already under the full control of the forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic. He expressed his hope that in the near future the armed personnel of the Ukrainian Forces who are still trapped in Azovstal will surrender.

On April 17, Russian Defense Ministry’ spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, said that a siege had been imposed on the Ukrainian Forces, including about 400 foreign mercenaries, at the Azovstal mining factory. He stressed that, “if they continue to resist, they will be eliminated”.
