Speaker: Syrian people withstand the crisis

DAMASCUS, (ST) –”the conspiracy targeting Syria is part of a series of plots by the US and its allies against countries that oppose their policies as regards  seizing peoples’ resources,”underscored Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham.

Al-Laham’s remark was made during a meeting with a delegation of French lawyers on Wednesday.

“Syria has been facing takfiri terrorist groups for more than two years accompanied by an unjust economic war and media misdirection that distorts and falsifies facts, with national Syrian channels being blocked to conceal the crimes of terrorists against the Syrians and mislead public opinion,”added al-Laham.

Al-Laham made it clear  that the terrorist groups, which are backed by the US, Western countries and some Arab states, have destroyed churches, mosques, oil pipelines and railways, in addition to looting  archeological artifacts, grain, and even entire factories from Aleppo which were smuggled to Turkey.

The speaker underlined  that the Syrian people withstood the crisis due to their faith in their homeland and their commitment to their dignity and sovereignty.

” Syria is now betting on the positions of the honest and free people of the world, stressing the need to press countries into avoiding following US policies that seek to usurp states and change governments in them by force,”stressed al-Laham.

Al-Lahham said that accusing the Syrian state of using chemical weapons sought to justify any potential US aggression against it which would have supported the terrorists who are suffering heavy losses at the hands of the Syrian army.

For their part, members of the delegation said their visit seeks to witness the reality of what is happening in Syria away from the misdirection carried out by Western media in service of certain government’s personal interests.
