Speaker Sabbagh: Relations between Syrian and Egyptian people are strong, deeply-rooted

Damascus – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammoudah al-Sabbagh described relations connecting the Syrian and Egyptian people as deeply rooted and strong.

Sabbagh, meeting a parliamentary popular delegation, led by Dr. Jamal Zahran, denounced the continuous terrorist attacks targeting the Egyptian people and the attempts to undermine the unity, integrity and stability of the Egyptian territories, expressing Syrians’ solidarity with Egyptian people, especially families of martyrs, SANA reported.

In turn, Zahran affirmed that the Egyptian people supports Syrian state as people, army and leadership in the face of the American-Zionist projects that aim to divide countries of the region, indicating that the Egyptians are following with great joy and anticipation all the news about the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army against terrorist organizations.

“We insist and demand the Egyptian political leadership to raise the degree of diplomatic representation in Syria from the charge d’affaires to an ambassador,” Zahran said.
