Speaker, Foreign Minister hold talks with Chairman of the Russian-Syrian Friendship Committee and Donetsk Foreign Minister
DAMASCUS, Jun.14, (ST)- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Miqdad held on Tuesday talks with the Chairman of the Russian-Syrian Friendship Committee Dmitry Sablin and Donetsk Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova and Culture Minister Mikhail Zeltyakov.
Al-Miqdad stressed that Syrian-Russian relations are constantly being developed thanks to the leadership of the two countries.
“Syria supports the Russian Federation, especially the credibility in dealing with international issues…This support is not only because Russia stood by Syria in confronting the terrorist war, but because the West is still tampering with the security and stability of countries and it continues to use all means and media disinformation to implement its political agendas in an attempt to impose its hegemony on the world,” he added.
The minister indicated that the West’s support for terrorism in Syria with weapons and billions of dollars is a continuation of its support today to the Nazis in Ukraine and providing them with weapons and money to confront the Russian stance that defends the people of Donbass, their freedom and security.
“The Western policies related to supporting terrorism in Syria impede the political efforts made to restore normal conditions to it, and the unilateral coercive measures being imposed on both Syria and the Russian Federation are immoral and contradict international law and affect the Syrian and Russian citizens in their most basic needs,” Al-Miqdad clarified.
For his part, Sablin asserted the need for continuous work within the Russian-Syrian Parliamentary Friendship Committee to overcome all difficulties that hinder the development of economic and parliamentary relations between the two friendly countries.
He pointed out that the main objective of the Russian military operation in Ukraine is to protect and defend the people of the Donbass region from the genocidal war they are being subjected to by the neo-Nazis.
Donetsk Foreign Minister spoke about the war on her country and the suffering of the Donetsk people from the practices of the Nazi groups, noting that Ukraine chose to be on the side of the West.
Nikonorova also referred to the fact that the head of the Donetsk Republic requested the Russian army’s help to protect civilians, their property and their rights because of the crimes committed by extremist groups against innocent civilians in Donetsk.
The two sides also discussed the possibilities available for multilateral cooperation at various levels to achieve the interests of the peoples of the two friendly countries.
In another meeting with the Speaker of the People’s Assembly [Parliament] Hammodah Sabbagh, Sablin praised Syria’s stances in defending the people’s rights to build their future without external interventions.
While Sabbagh reiterated Syria’s firm and consistent support for Russia in its special military operation in Ukraine that aims to protect Russia’s national security and its people.
Following the meeting, Sablin told reporters that this visit comes on the sidelines of the 4th Syrian-Russian joint meeting held to follow up on the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees and displaced people.
“We are on the way to establish a just world system, and every meeting between us and cooperation is a new link in the chain of events leading to this system”.
For her part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk Republic affirmed that relations with Syria will be enhanced to enter a new phase of friendship and cooperation, expressing her confidence that the objectives of the Russian military operation in Ukraine will be achieved soon.
