Spanish Province of La Rioja: Western coercive sanctions are inhuman and increase the suffering of the Syrian people

The Spanish province of La Rioja has condemned the US and Western coercive measures against Syria, including the so-called “Caesar Act”, stressing that it increases the suffering of the Syrian people and hinders the reconstruction of what has been destroyed by the terrorist war against Syria.

Director-General of Cooperation and Human Rights of Regional Government of La Rioja, Mayra Moro -Coco, said in a statement to SANA correspondent in Madrid that these unilateral coercive sanctions are increasing the suffering of the Syrians, especially in the midst of the global health crisis caused by the Corona virus.

She stressed that these sanctions punish all segments of the Syrian people , especially women and children, by depriving them of obtaining the necessary foodstuffs and supplies, and obstructing efforts to deliver medical equipment and medicines to combat the epidemic.

For his part, Director of the Information Office of the Regional Government of La Rioja, Axier Amo IZarra, emphasized that the goal of the American administration in implementing the so-called “Caesar’s Law” is to multiply the consequences of the coercive measures imposed by Western countries on Syria.

He indicated that the White House has drawn up a scheme targeting Syria through imposing restrictions and destabilization using terrorist organizations, including Daesh ( ISIS ).

Izarra added that the so-called “Caesar Law” reveals the true face of the United States as it intensifies the suffering of the Syrian people and deprives it of its most basic needs.

He underscored that Washington seeks to use that to put pressure on the Syrian state, and this represents a flagrant violation against Syrian sovereignty and an inhumane measure at various international standards.
