Spanish Communist Party: OPCW’s report is a new attempt to forge facts

Madrid (ST): The Spanish Communist Party has denounced the recent report issued by OPCW about Syria, stressing that this report echoed previous ones released by the Organization in a new attempt to forge facts and accuse the Syrian people of using chemical weapons.

The statement released by the Party said that the alleged accusation mongered by the US is an attempt to deny the Syrian government’s legitimate right to defend its people and territories and to launch an aggression against Syria beyond  international law.

The statement added that OPCW’s reports, based on unreliable sources, lack credibility and lead for adopting unjustifiable unilateral decisions that run contrary to the international law.

The party described the statements made by the Turkish regime and the EU foreign relations commissioner, which call for imposing new sanctions on Syria as nonconstructive, pointing out that the Syrian people have been exposed to an illegal and inhuman embargo since 2011.

The statement affirmed that despite the unilateral coercive measures and the terrorist war launched against it,  Syria has been taking strict and effective measures to confront the spread of Corona virus pandemic.

The party concluded its statement expressing complete support for Syria in confronting terrorism and calling for immediate withdrawal of the US and Turkish forces from Syria territories.
