Spanish academics reiterate Syria’s right to defend itself against repeated Israeli attacks, western schemes

Pablo Sapag, a Spanish researcher and professor at Madrid Complutense University, has condemned the Israeli repeated attacks on Syrian territories, stressing that these acts of aggression blatantly violate the international law and threaten regional and international security.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Madrid, Sapag reiterated Syria’s right to defend itself, particularly as Israel’s allies at the Security Council refuse to condemn such aggressive acts.

He pointed out that the parties that keep silent over these Israeli attacks  are the same parties which have been violating the international legitimacy and the UN Charter and which have accepted the imposition of unilateral coercive measures by the United States and the European Union on the Syrian people.

On his part, Jose Luis Orella, a researcher and professor at the CEU San Pablo University, criticized  the role played by western media in distorting facts about the terrorist organizations’ crimes in Syria and about the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territories, calling for lifting the coercive measures to help the Syrian government get the medical equipment necessary for confronting the Corona pandemic.

Juan Antonio Aguilar, a researcher in military affairs and Director of the Spanish Geopolitical Institute, condemned the continuous Zionist aggression against Syria and the foreign support provided to Daesh terrorist organization and other armed gangs with the aim of undermining the Syrian state. He also condemned the economic blockade as well as the unfair coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrians and the blatant systematic theft of Syrian oil and resources by occupying forces.

Aguilar highlighted the Turkish regime’s role in supporting terrorist organizations as well as the US support for Israel and the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia, noting that this support comes within the framework of the schemes targeting Syria and its legitimate government.
